The rights of farm animals outweigh the rights of some humans, at least that is the message that California is sending after the big historic election last night.

I'm all for the "yay" that Obama won the presidency - this is something that needed to happen to restore our reputation with the rest of the world (something that I'm sure many people forgot about over the years is that the US is only part of the world, and not the whole world...) but I have much sadness in that my state - and I've only ever had residence in California - would choose to add to the constitution blatant discrimination against a single group of people.

This is far worse than electing an Austrian muscle head as Governor...

A "No" vote on CA Proposition 8 will annul no marriages.

A "Yes" vote on CA Proposition 8 will annul over 10,000 marriages (many with kids.)

Which vote is REALLY "protecting marriage"?

So, when one goes to a park to listen to some music, read a book and watch one's spouse (and friends) doing some hooping - because 08/08/08 was World Hoop Day - one would expect not to be bothered (except for the people intrigued by the hooping, of which there were many.) The record had been pretty good up to now. We'd hooped in various parks in the south Bay Area, and thought little of making the big hoop day meet at the Los Gatos town plaza park.

No, I'm not referring to the merger between the two largest Independent Television companies in the U.K. I am referring to the fact that at 8:05 PM, the news was already forecasting a Governor Ah-nuld. 8:05 PM!!! Give me a break... Only one percent of the precincts were reporting at the time. One can only hope that the remaining precincts swing it the other way (now, at about 9:15 PM it's seventeen percent reporting 56/44 in favor of the recall.)
